DESCRIPTION
In Maremma grows a wonderful Mediterranean grape called Vermentino, an aromatic white variety whose natural habitat are the regions of Liguria, Tuscany and Sardinia.
It is a grape which grows well in the warm areas of the Mediterranean Sea and, as opposed to other grapes, it does very well when planted near the sea. Vermentino wines have good body and acidity. In case it is left to ripen completely the acidity of the grape decreases, but with the right amount of care and attention it is possible to obtain an excellent dry and crisp white wine.
In Maremma, Antonio Sanguineti, realized that even Viognier can express itself at its best thanks to the minerality of the soils which are dry and compact with areas of limestone.
The wind and the heat of this land allow the ideal ripening of small, thick and crisp grapes. Probably the main peculiarity of Viognier is its powerful, rich and complex aroma of ripe apricots, orange blossom and acacia. The characteristic Viognier aroma is evident even when combined with a variety such as Vermentino.
